HIV/AIDS Glossary

An order issued by the FDA to a drug sponsor to delay a proposed clinical investigation or to suspend an ongoing investigation. The clinical hold may apply to one or more of the investigations conducted under an investigational new drug application (IND). A clinical hold may be designated as either complete (all clinical work under an IND is affected) or partial (part of the clinical work under an IND is affected).
