Treatment as Prevention (TasP)

A term that describes the reduced likelihood of HIV transmission that occurs when HIV medicines lower a person’s viral load to undetectable levels. Treatment as prevention (TasP) reduces the risk of HIV transmission through sex or needle sharing, and from a pregnant person to child during pregnancy, birth, and breastfeeding/chestfeeding (feeding a child one’s own milk).
