Multidrug-Resistant Tuberculosis (MDR-TB)

Audio

A form of tuberculosis (TB) that is resistant to at least the two most effective TB drugs (isoniazid and rifampin). People who have multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB) have a high likelihood of treatment failure. They also may develop further drug resistance, which can lead to extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis (XDR-TB), a life-threatening disease.
