Long-Term Nonprogressors (LTNP)

Audio
A small group of people with HIV who do not take antiretroviral therapy (ART) and still maintain CD4 counts in the normal range indefinitely. The CD4 count is the strongest predictor of HIV progression. A CD4 count less than 200 cells/mm3; indicates that a person has AIDS. In general, the time from infection with HIV to the development of AIDS is approximately 10 to 12 years.
