A solution of antibodies prepared for injection into a person’s vein. Intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) is composed of antibodies removed from the blood of healthy donors and then pooled together and purified. IVIG is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in children with HIV to reduce the risk of serious bacterial infections.
