Abnormally low levels of gamma globulin in the blood. Gamma globulins are a group of blood proteins that includes proteins that act as antibodies. People with hypogammaglobulinemia have a higher likelihood of infections. Hypogammaglobulinemia may be due to certain genetic diseases or to acquired diseases such as HIV.
