The Panel for the Guidelines for the Prevention and Treatment of Opportunistic Infections in Children With and Exposed to HIV is accepting nominations for new Leadership Group Members with expertise in HIV medicine and pediatric opportunistic infections (OIs). 

The Panel is a Working Group of the Office of AIDS Research Advisory Council of the National Institutes of Health. The Panel is composed of clinicians, researchers, academicians, and Department of Health and Human Services representatives with expertise in pediatric HIV and OI management in the United States. 

The Panel is seeking candidates to assist with preparing, evaluating, and updating sections of the Guidelines for the Prevention and Treatment of Opportunistic Infections in Children With and Exposed to HIV that focus on one or more pathogens, or a special topic such as immunizations. Candidates should have the following qualifications: 

• Senior clinical investigators with expertise in the treatment and prevention of HIV-related OIs in children, or 

• Active clinicians with extensive experience managing children with HIV and their OIs. 

Leadership Group Members are expected to have good writing skills, stay up to date on relevant literature, and be available to meet monthly via videoconference. Members review and edit guideline section updates and serve as Core Editor on assigned specific sections, working with the Section Team to reconcile edits. The successful candidates will serve a four-year term, with potential for reappointment for additional terms. Panel leadership group members are not financially compensated for their time commitment. 

Self-nomination is welcome. The nomination should include a curriculum vitae, letter of interest or nomination (from a colleague) with specific reference to how the nominee would contribute to the work of the Panel, and a note indicating the section group(s) of which the applicant would be interested in serving as Core Editor as part of their duties as a Leadership Group Member.
