With advances in effective HIV treatment, people with HIV are living longer, healthier lives. National HIV/AIDS and Aging Awareness Day (NHAAD), observed annually on September 18, raises awareness about the complex issues related to HIV prevention, treatment, and care, for adults aged 50 or older, as well as long-term and lifetime survivors with HIV. NHAAD emphasizes the importance of research to better understand the effects of aging on people with HIV.
