The Panel for the Guidelines for Prevention and Treatment of Opportunistic Infections in Adults and Adolescents with HIV is accepting nominations for new scientific/clinical members with expertise in HIV medicine and opportunistic infections (OIs).

The Panel is a Working Group of the Office of AIDS Research Advisory Council of the National Institutes of Health. The Panel is composed of more than 100 members who are clinicians, researchers, academicians, and Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) representatives with expertise in HIV and OI management in the United States.

The Panel is seeking candidates to assist with preparation, evaluation, and updating of sections of the Guidelines for the Prevention and Treatment of Opportunistic Infections in Adults and Adolescents with HIV that focus on one or more pathogens, or a special topic such as pregnancy or immunizations. Candidates should have the following qualifications:

• Clinical investigators with expertise in the treatment and prevention of HIV-related OIs, or
• Active clinicians with extensive experience managing people with HIV and their OIs.

Panel members are expected to have good writing skills, stay up to date on relevant literature, and be available to participate in conference calls. The successful candidates will serve a 4-year term with appointments typically starting in October, with potential for reappointment for additional terms. Panel members are not financially compensated for their time commitment.

Self-nomination is welcome. The nomination should include a curriculum vitae, letter of interest or nomination (from a colleague) with specific reference to how the nominee would contribute to the work of the Panel, and a note indicating on which section group(s) the applicant would be interested in serving.
