Updates to the Guidelines for the Prevention and Treatment of Opportunistic Infections in Adults and Adolescents with HIV

The Panel on Opportunistic Infections in Adults and Adolescents (the Panel) updated the Guidelines for the Prevention and Treatment of Opportunistic Infections in Adults and Adolescents with HIV. Highlights from the updated sections are summarized below:

Immunization

  • Hepatitis B Vaccine
    • Updated recommendations for Heplisav-B for primary vaccination and for nonresponders to other primary regimens.
  • Meningococcal Vaccine
    • Updated recommendations regarding quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccines.
  • Pneumococcal Vaccine
    • Updated recommendations regarding use of pneumococcal conjugate vaccine (PCV) 15 and PCV 20.
