Today is National Latinx AIDS Awareness Day (NLAAD), a day to promote prevention, care, and treatment of HIV within the Hispanic/Latinx communities. Each year on October 15, NLAAD acknowledges the disproportionate impact of HIV on Hispanic and Latinx communities. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in 2018, Hispanics/Latinos accounted for 27% of the new HIV diagnoses in the United States dependent areas. Stigma, poverty, and limited access to health care are among the HIV-related challenges facing Hispanic/Latino communities.
