HIV/AIDS Glossary

The transfer (spread) of HIV that mainly occurs during sex or needle sharing as the result of contact with the semen, vaginal fluid, or blood of a person with HIV. (HIV transmission from mother to child during pregnancy, labor and delivery, or breastfeeding is called perinatal transmission.)
