Primary Effusion Lymphoma (PEL)

A rare and fast-growing form of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma that most often occurs in immunocompromised patients, such as people with HIV. PEL is associated with human herpesvirus-8 (HHV-8) infection or Epstein-Barr virus and is characterized by malignant effusions (abnormal collections of fluid) in body cavities.
