About Clinical Info

ClinicalInfo offers access to the latest, federally approved HIV/AIDS medical practice guidelines, an HIV drug database, a glossary of HIV-related terms, and resources related to HIV-related research for health care providers, researchers, people affected by HIV/AIDS, and the general public.

ClinicalInfo is an online resource offering treatment information to health care providers caring for people with HIV and AIDS-related illnesses, including prevention and treatment of HIV-related opportunistic infections, prevention of mother-to-child transmission during pregnancy, and information on the prevention of HIV transmission from occupational exposure. ClinicalInfo is also a resource to refer patients to information about their continuum of care. This includes access to information about FDA-approved and investigational HIV/AIDS related drugs, available in both patient and health professional versions.

If you are a general consumer or a person affected by HIV/AIDS and want to learn more about the basics of HIV, we recommend starting with HIV.gov’s HIV Basics and NIH’s Understanding HIV/AIDS section on HIVinfo.NIH.gov and working very closely with your health care provider to determine the most appropriate HIV prevention or treatment options for you. You can learn more about HIVinfo here.

ClinicalInfo, a service of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), is maintained by the Office of AIDS Research (OAR), which is part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). OAR coordinates HIV/AIDS research across the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The NIH provides the largest public investment in HIV/AIDS research globally. ClinicalInfo is presented on HIV.gov, an important source of HIV information that helps users access and navigate the wide variety of Federal HIV programs, services, and policies.

ClinicalInfo is 100% federally funded and sponsored by the Office of AIDS Research (OAR).

Background

In September 2020 the Office of AIDS Research (OAR) transitioned the public AIDSinfo.nih.gov and infoSIDA.nih.gov websites from the National Library of Medicine (NLM) to OAR and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Infectious Diseases and HIV/AIDS Policy (OIDP), which manages HIV.gov. The websites have been renamed ClinicalInfo.HIV.gov and HIVinfo.nih.gov. ClinicalInfo features the HIV Clinical Treatment Guidelines, the HIV Drug Database, and the Glossary. HIVinfo features the Understanding HIV components including easy-to-understand fact sheets and infographics. Both sites feature Spanish pages that can be accessed using the Spanish (es) dropdown.
